Fashion and lifestyle Whatnot show graphics without clutter
Fashion Whatnot graphics should keep the garment readable. A sports break board on a clothing show is the wrong tool.
On this page
Fashion and lifestyle Whatnot graphics fail when they borrow a sports break layout. The product is a garment, a bag, a pair of shoes, a room of objects. Buyers need to see the item and the price moment. They do not need a 32-cell grid. Clutter here is usually a board you do not run.
This is the on-screen kit for fashion and lifestyle, including a seasonal drop. The calendar around those drops is seasonal selling on Whatnot. Listing words that must match the garment: listings that match the live room.
| On screen | Keep | Delete |
|---|---|---|
| Item | A clear hole or a clean full-frame cam | A border that crops sleeves and hems |
| Price or auction | Whatnot's own bid UI, left alone | A second price in your overlay that can go stale |
| Season word | One word if the inventory is actually that season | Stickers, snow, and a sale burst together |
| Trust | Your name, small, same place every show | A team grid, a chase counter, a sports lower-third |
The garment gets the pixels
Hold the piece up in the frame you plan to use. If the overlay cuts the detail people buy (stitching, sole, hardware, size tag when you are showing it), move the overlay. A logo in the corner is enough brand for a try-on show.
Skip a break-style board unless you truly sell spots. Most fashion shows are item, bid, next item. A board implies a format you are not running, and it steals the cloth.
One season word, and only if it is true
Back to school, holiday, resort: use the word when the rail behind you matches it. A holiday bug on summer stock feels like a template you forgot to edit. Regulars notice leftovers faster than they notice a new font.
Change the thumb and the bug together. A summer thumb with a holiday overlay is two shows. Pick one. Do not stack both 'so the algorithm sees the trend.' The person in the room can see the mismatch.
Do not redraw Whatnot's price
The app already shows the bid. A second price baked into your frame will be wrong the moment the bid moves. Leave that zone empty. Put size, condition, or 'fits like' in your voice or in a small still you swap between items. If you cannot swap it, do not put a size on screen that belongs to the previous piece.
Who should hire a fashion kit: sellers whose sports-style pack covers the clothes, or whose thumb and live cam look unrelated. Who should not: someone doing a first show from the phone who only needs a clean thumb in Canva. We do not style the clothes or run the auction.
Build a small scene list
- Starting: your name and today's category. No collage of every item.
- Live: cam clear, logo corner, bid zone empty.
- Item card, optional: size or condition on a plate you remove before the next piece.
- BRB: still, so a viewer who joins late can read who you are.
- End: next show time. Take the season word off if the next show is not that season.
Canvas is still 1080 x 1920 if you use OBS. Phone-only sellers should not order a layered kit they cannot place. Whatnot overlays.
Try the piece on, then look at the frame
Hold the next three items in the hole you designed. Sleeves, soles, and hardware get cropped in different places. If only the flat-lay photo fits, the frame is for a photo, not a show. Move the border until a moving garment still reads.
Film ten seconds and watch it on the phone you sell to. If you are adjusting the item to dodge your logo, the logo is in the wrong place. The garment does not get redesigned to save the graphic.
A jacket drop that never borrows a break board
The show is eight jackets from one drop. Starting scene: your name, the drop name, nothing else. Live scene: a hole big enough for a sleeve and a hem while you turn the piece. Bid price stays in Whatnot's own UI. You do not draw a second price. You do not import a 32-cell sports board 'so it looks more like a show.' There is no list of teams. The product is the garment in the hole.
One season word is allowed if the jackets are actually that season. 'Fall' on a fall drop, small, same place as last month's word. Snow, confetti, and a sale burst together means the buyer is watching stickers. If the drop is just 'new arrivals' and it is not tied to a season, leave the word off. A false season is the same mismatch as a false product.
Hold jacket one flat, jacket two on a body, jacket three so the hardware faces the camera. If the border eats any of those, move the border. A frame that only fits the flat-lay photo will fail the moment you walk. Film the walk. Watch it muted. You should be able to name the piece. If you cannot, the chrome is too loud or the hole is too small.
| Habit | What it does to the piece | Instead |
|---|---|---|
| A sports grid on a clothing show | Covers the garment with cells you will never fill | Delete the grid. Keep name and hole. |
| Your own price painted on the frame | Goes stale the moment the bid moves | Leave price to Whatnot's bid UI. |
| Five seasonal stamps at once | The item becomes a background for the holiday | One true word, or none. |
| A border sized to a flat photo | Sleeves and hems disappear when you move | Move the border until a walking shot still reads. |
If you also sell cards on other nights, do not make the fashion frame a recolored sports kit. Buyers who follow both need to know which room they joined. Different product, different layout, same name and same colors. That is the whole brand rule for a second category.
FAQ
What graphics does a fashion Whatnot show need?
A thumb with the real category, a quiet live frame that does not crop the garment, and a starting plate with your name. Not a team board.
Should I put the price on my overlay?
No. Whatnot draws the bid. A second price goes stale. Use the empty zone for the item, not for a number you must chase.
How seasonal should the overlay be?
One true word. If the clothes are not that season, leave the word off. Update the thumb in the same pass.
Can I reuse a sports overlay for fashion?
Only the discipline: vertical canvas, safe area, your name. Not the grid, the chase meter, or the hit sting.
What if I sell both fashion and cards?
Two scene collections. Do not hide a team board under a sweater show. Swap scenes the way you would swap a weekend label.
Put the garment on and walk toward the camera the way you do on a real show. A frame that fits a flat photo often cuts the sleeves the moment you move. If you are twisting the item to dodge a logo, move the logo. Buyers came for the piece. They will not forgive a border that eats the detail you just described.
