Sports cards Whatnot graphics checklist
Pass or fail the graphics for one sports-card break before you go live: thumb, board, card cam, and hit state.
On this page
A sports cards Whatnot graphics checklist is a pass or fail on one break, before you go live. It is not a growth plan and it is not a brand workshop. If a row fails, you are not ready, even if the intro is already written.
Use it for sports breaks: team spots, random, stash or pass. TCG can borrow the hit-state row. Fashion can ignore the board rows. Format differences live in Whatnot show formats.
| Check | Pass looks like | Fail looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Thumb | 1080 x 1920, format and product named | A league logo and no show title |
| Board | Open and claimed readable on a phone | A spreadsheet, or last show's claims still filled |
| Card cam | The slab is visible while chat and bids are up | Cam, bug, or board covering the card |
| Hit state | A still hold long enough to screenshot | A loop that never lands, or no change at all |
| Name on screen | Your show name, not a borrowed team mark as the logo | Looks like the league's own broadcast |
Fail any row and fix that row. Do not add a new lower-third to compensate.
Thumb: say the break, not the hobby
Pass: a buyer knows the product and the format without opening the show. 'PYT, this product, tonight' beats a helmet and a glow. Skip clever nicknames the room has not learned yet.
A thumb that says 'football' when you are ripping baseball is a fail even if the design is clean. Honesty first. Polish second. One-thumb detail: Whatnot show thumbnail checklist.
Board: open, claimed, gone
Pass: three states, obvious at phone size, updated when the spot sells. Not three spots later. The buyer who just paid should see their team move.
Fail: a full league grid when you are only breaking twelve spots. Empty cells look like unsold product. Build the board for this break's list. How cells should work: Whatnot card break boards.
A PNG board does not update itself. If you need sold spots to survive an OBS crash on their own, you need live board software, not a design file. Pelican ships the art and the scenes you operate. We do not click claims during your show.
Card cam and the hit
Pass: the card is the brightest, stillest thing in the frame at the moment of the flip. Facecam can stay if it is small and out of the slab. The hit graphic holds on a still. Chat can screenshot it.
Fail: celebrating with a full-screen animation before the card is readable. Also a fail: no graphic at all when you need buyers to know which spot the hit belongs to. The spot name matters more than the sparkle. Pull timing: Whatnot pull cards on stream.
Run the list the hour before
- Open the thumb on your phone. Read it out loud. If you say a different product than the type says, remake it.
- Reset the board. No leftover claims.
- Put OBS on the live scene. Confirm the card hole is clear with chat visible. Whatnot draws its own chrome.
- Fire the hit state once. It must land on a still with the spot or player readable.
- If any row fails, delay the graphic, not the truth. You can go live with a plain cam. You should not go live with a lying board.
Who should skip this checklist: fashion and lifestyle shows. Who should skip hiring a sports kit: sellers who do not yet know their format. Pick the format on Whatnot's breaks help, then build the board. Service home: Whatnot boards.
Your name has to beat the league mark
Team colors help buyers find a spot. They should not replace your show. If a screenshot of the live scene could belong to any breaker in that league, the checklist fails even when the board is readable. Put your name where a phone crop still keeps it.
Do not draw official league logos you do not have rights to use. Say the sport and the product in your own type. A cleaner wordmark is safer than a borrowed crest that makes the room look unofficial in the wrong direction.
The hour before a football break
The product is a twelve-team football random, not the whole league. An hour out, the thumb says football and the format, not 'cards' and not last month's baseball hit. The board has twelve names, open, in type that still reads with chat up. Your name is on the frame where a phone crop keeps it. The league's colors can help someone find a cell. They do not get to replace you.
Run the list out loud against the board. If two teams collapse to the same three letters, spell the second one. Reset any cell that is still claimed from the last break. Check the card cam: the slab has to sit in the hole you left, not under a lower-third. The hit plate, if you use one, names the spot and leaves the card readable. A full-screen celebration before the name is a fail even when the room is loud.
Phone-only, no OBS: do not order the full kit. Fix the thumb and be honest in the title. A board you cannot update is a picture of spots you will sell wrong. Who should not order a full sports kit yet: one casual show, or a seller who has not decided whether the night is teams, random, or singles. Who should: the same break shape every week, and a frame that already fights the card.
| Check | Fail | Pass |
|---|---|---|
| Thumb | Says football, table is baseball, or says nothing | Sport, product, format. Readable as a tile. |
| Board | Thirty-two cells for a twelve-team break | Tonight's list. Open, claimed, and gone are different. |
| Cam | The lower-third covers the name on the slab | The hole fits the card you actually hold |
| Your name | A screenshot could be any breaker in that league | Your name survives a phone crop |
Do not draw official league marks you do not have rights to use. Say the sport and the product in your own type. A borrowed crest that makes the room look unofficial is not a shortcut to trust. The checklist is pass or fail before you go live. If a row fails, fix that row. Do not add a second graphic to hide it.
FAQ
What graphics do I need for a sports cards Whatnot show?
A true thumb, a board with open and claimed states, a clear card cam, and a hit hold. Starting and BRB plates if you use OBS. Not a pile of league logos.
Can I use the same board every break?
Only if the spot list matches. A new product with a different team list needs a reset or a new file. Leaving old claims up is a trust problem, not a design problem.
Do I need a graphic for every team in the league?
No. You need the teams in this break. A full-league page you are not selling is clutter.
What if I only have a phone?
Pass a honest thumb and a steady card cam. Skip the custom board until you have OBS. A board file with nowhere to put it is not a checklist pass.
Who should not order a full sports kit yet?
Anyone who cannot name the format and the product for the next show. Get one break honest. Then hire the system.
Send tonight's show link and a photo of the current board through Free Audit, or drop them in Discord.
